Will ‘Smart Cities’ Impact Supply Chain?
An urban development vision to integrate information and communication technology (ICT) and Internet of things (IoT) technology in a secure fashion to better manage a city’s assets.
Local municipalities leverage information systems from schools, libraries, transportation systems, hospitals, power plants, water supply networks, waste management, law enforcement, and other community services to invent new solutions based on the needs of the city itself.
The goal of building a Smart City is to improve quality of life for its citizens. This could mean using streetlights to automatically light the path for pedestrians. Urban transportation is at the leading edge increasing public safety and commuter mobility.
